Renewable Energy Alliance appoints new Chair

The Renewable Energy Alliance (RE-Alliance) Board has elected Anna Hancock as its new Chair at its February meeting.

Anna is Executive Director at Pollination with 25 years of energy and resources sector experience in commercial and operational roles. She previously established and led the Sustainability and Climate Change function at EnergyAustralia and negotiated the organisation’s Climate Transition Action Plan. Prior to her work at EnergyAustralia, Anna launched BHP’s commercial supply team in China.

Anna also serves on the Board of the Clean Energy Regulator.

“I have spent significant time in power generation and mining areas across Australia and have seen the literal coal face of Australia’s historic energy-production regions as they face significant change,” Anna Hancock said.

“The Renewable Energy Alliance’s work in centring the voice of regional communities at the heart of Australia’s shift to renewables is crucial. I fundamentally believe that our regions can – and must – benefit from hosting renewables, which is why I joined the Renewable Energy Alliance team.

“We know how hard it is for people to access trusted information about Australia’s energy shift – let alone information that is relevant if you’re living in a region that is being asked to host wind and solar farms or battery projects.

The hard work in building that understanding must happen where the roll-out of renewables is taking place. The Renewable Energy Alliance is working to build energy knowledge and positive local outcomes and continues to advocate for on-the-ground support in Renewable Energy Zones across Australia. We will keep elevating regional voices and supporting local leaders to create a race to the top for better practice.”

Anna was appointed to the Renewable Energy Alliance’s Board in November 2024 following the resignation of Jonathan Upson who made an incredible contribution to RE-Alliance, sitting on the Board for eight years.

The Board warmly thanks Susan Findlay-Tickner who has held the position of Chair for the past two years. Susan continues to serve on the Board.
