From social licence to social value in the energy transition

The renewable energy shift should deliver genuine and lasting value for our communities – but how?

One way could be through the concept of social value, which we’ve looked into with PATHMAKER and Community Power Agency. Social value means going beyond simple community acceptance of projects, and delivering genuine, measurable improvements in the lives of communities hosting renewable energy.

This discussion paper is an invitation to a sector-wide conversation on how we can turn social value into shared practice, and ultimately, better outcomes for our regions.
