RE-Alliance strongly supports the development of bioregional plans to help inform better planning and facilitate faster, better decisions. Communities regularly express concern about the potential environmental impacts of renewable energy projects, and tools that can help proponents to avoid those impacts are welcomed.

The Department of Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation of Queensland has undertaken extensive work and consultation in developing management tools around spatial conservation analysis and cumulative impact for the bioregional guidance plans.

We welcome the opportunity to comment on the plan most relevant to renewable energy, the Draft Brigalow Belt North bioregional guidance plan.

The draft plan provides useful information on project siting and design as some of the key measures that can reduce environmental impacts. However, it also has its limitations. Read our relevant recommendations in our full submission.
