RE-Alliance and the Community Power Agency developed and shared a concept for Regional Benefit Sharing with NSW EnergyCo to offer insights and input to the design of the Central-West Orana REZ regional benefit fund. The concept, outlined in the paper explores the purpose of community benefit sharing, best practice approaches and the value of creating a well structured and community supported regional benefit sharing initiative in NSW's renewable energy zones. We explore how this could be enabled under the NSW Access Scheme, the principles that should underpin a REZ-wide approach and how delivery through a REZ Foundation model could be established and rolled out.
